Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever you browse Colorado Criminal History, read its content, or use a search feature. Continuing to use any part of the website means that you accept all terms below. If you disagree with them, do not continue using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Colorado Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a government body. Neither the website nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We are not a consumer reporting agency or a private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

Colorado Criminal History is a private reference website, not a government service. It does not keep official records, perform official background checks, retrieve records for visitors, or file court documents.

Its content directs readers to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Colorado Department of Corrections, the Colorado Sex Offender Registry, Colorado courts, and the sheriffs and local courts serving all 64 counties. Some pages also connect to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Colorado, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, harass, or target another person with information found here
  • Use content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Attempt to enter systems or data you are not authorized to access
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools through the pages
  • Interfere with the website or prevent another visitor from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use content from Colorado Criminal History or a linked resource to stalk, intimidate, harass, threaten, retaliate against, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Colorado places added restrictions on registry use. Public dissemination is addressed by C.R.S. §16-22-110, and C.R.S. §18-9-310.5 penalizes specified misuse and false information connected with the public registry. Registry data supports safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilante conduct or other punishment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Colorado Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not prepare consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. You must not use this website or a linked tool to:

  • Evaluate an applicant or worker
  • Assess a renter or housing applicant
  • Set insurance terms or judge creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Take any action governed by the FCRA

When a legally authorized purpose requires a background check, use the applicable official CBI channel or a qualified FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. Colorado laws on charges, warrants, dispositions, and record sealing can affect each case differently. A licensed Colorado attorney must evaluate a specific legal situation.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are offered "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Information will always be accurate, current, or complete
  • The website will operate continuously without interruption
  • Every page will be free from errors or security flaws
  • A partner tool will produce a complete or correct result

Colorado records can change when charges are amended, a disposition is entered, or a court seals a record. Confirm every material fact with its government custodian. Under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, C.R.S. §§24-72-301 through 309, access to criminal-justice records depends on the record and custodian. CORA, C.R.S. §§24-72-200.1 through 205.5, governs many other public administrative records.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

The website links to Colorado agencies, court portals, county offices, legal resources, and outside search services. Following a link takes you to a service we do not control. We are not responsible for that provider's information, availability, charges, privacy practices, or terms. Review the destination's rules before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless a different owner is identified, the website's text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Colorado Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Colorado Criminal History is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the website, reliance on its content, or use of an outside service reached through a link.

10. Indemnification

You agree to protect and hold us harmless against claims, proceedings, demands, legal fees, and related costs caused by your use of the website or your violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Colorado law governs these terms. Any dispute related to use of the website must be brought in a court located in Colorado.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated language is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end access to the website at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be narrowed only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
